  Ummm.... Katsa from "Graceling" by Kristin Cashore because she is so headstrong and doesn't need anyone to look after her but still has a soft side if you get to know her!

  Graceling is my all-time favorite book, The Gemma Doyle series, The Den of Shadows Quartet, and The Face on the Milk Carton series are also among my favorites
