Forum Search Tips Close

Basics

  1. Search syntax is similar to Google searches.
  2. Words shorter than 4 characters are ignored.
  3. Searches are NOT case-sensitive.
  4. Automatic 'and' queries: The search will only return pages that include all of your search terms.
  5. Only the body of the post is searched by default. Use the Advanced search to also search by subject.
  6. Word variation/stemming is currently not supported. For example, if you search for acting or acted, the search will not return results for act.

Phrase Searches

Sometimes you'll only want results that include an exact phrase. In this case, simply put quotation marks around your search terms. E.g. "cool video games"

Negative Terms

If your search term has more than one meaning (bass, for example, could refer to fishing or music) you can focus your search by putting a minus sign ("-") in front of words related to the meaning you want to avoid. For example, here's how you'd find pages about bass-heavy lakes, but not bass-heavy music: bass -music

Welcome to our hive, Laura! Laughing I take it that you are bilingual in English and Spanish, but, do you speak any other languages? Also, is indigo your favorite color? If not, what is?

Hello Laura! Nice to have you on RandomBuzzers!

Your book sounds really interesting! Can't wait to read it! So, onto my question. I read the letter you wrote to all us RB, and was struck by the amazing places you have been. So, what is your favorite place you have visited so far?

Vampires don't exist. But if they did exist and one knew that you knew what he was, he would probably smother you in your sleep.

I'm not going to bite your jugular. I could kill you like that.

    Great questions...

I also speak French fluently (and not surprisingly, the second book in this series is set in France)!  Around my town (Fort Collins, CO) I speak Spanish a lot with my friends, but only get a chance to practice my French once in a while.  That's my excuse to frequent the yummy new crepe place in town... ;)  When I lived in Oaxaca, Mexico, I learned some basic Mixteco, which is an indigenous language that appears in my first two books (What the Moon Saw and Red Glass).

I do love the color indigo-- the color of a dusky sky. I don't know if it's my favorite, though.  My favorite color changes depending on the mood I'm in.  I just painted my bathroom flamingo pink last week, which was my favorite color at that moment (luckily I still like it a lot!)

    cheers,

    Laura

hmm... my favorite place... I'd have to say Oaxaca, Mexico, since it's so close to my heart after spending two years there.  I also really loved Morocco, but only got the chance to spend a week there.  The food was truly amazing, and I could never get enough of the sweet, sweet fresh mint tea that's served everywhere, all the time.

    Hi Laura,

How long did it take for you to write The Indigo Notebook?

It took me about two years, but it's hard to give an exact length of time for creative endeavors.  I'd been playing with the idea of doing a series set in different countries for a while.  When I went to Ecuador in late 2005 to research another book, and I got the idea for this novel... then for a year or two, these ideas were simmering. It was on my second trip to Ecuador, in early 2007, when I really focused on writing the story.  In fall of 2007, I signed the contract for the book, but at that time, I'd only written about a hundred pages.  I finished the book in fall of 2008, and it was in production for a year.

    Thanks for your question!

    cheers,

    Laura

Well, to be honest, I haven't read your book. I don't know the title of your book. I don't know what you are writing for. Anyway, welcomw to random buzzers, I hope I will someday read your book (if it exists in Greece :P).

    Hello--

Thanks for the welcome!  I don't know if The Indigo Notebook is available in Greece... but I WILL say that Greece does play a small but important role in the book. (I love Greece-- spent time on some beautiful islands many years ago...)

    Cheers,

    Laura
