Topic : Love That Book Cover!

Forum Search Tips Close

Basics

  1. Search syntax is similar to Google searches.
  2. Words shorter than 4 characters are ignored.
  3. Searches are NOT case-sensitive.
  4. Automatic 'and' queries: The search will only return pages that include all of your search terms.
  5. Only the body of the post is searched by default. Use the Advanced search to also search by subject.
  6. Word variation/stemming is currently not supported. For example, if you search for acting or acted, the search will not return results for act.

Phrase Searches

Sometimes you'll only want results that include an exact phrase. In this case, simply put quotation marks around your search terms. E.g. "cool video games"

Negative Terms

If your search term has more than one meaning (bass, for example, could refer to fishing or music) you can focus your search by putting a minus sign ("-") in front of words related to the meaning you want to avoid. For example, here's how you'd find pages about bass-heavy lakes, but not bass-heavy music: bass -music

Don't you just love the cover for Lauren Kate's Fallen? I know we aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover but this one is just too cool! I have definitely bought a book before because I thought the cover design was awesome.

What do you think of the cover? Have you ever judged a book by its cover? Are there any of your favorite books whose covers are lacking?

I love the cover! I must say that I'm guilty for buying books because of the cover. One of my favorite covers of all time is the cover of Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick and I love the covers in the Study series by Maria V. Snyder as well. My friend has an ARC of Fallen and she's disappointed that it doesn't have the final cover on it because she loves it too.

I judge most books by their covers! Books have to have a certain look and "feel" to them (that makes me sound creepy, but I promise I'm not!). I definitely LOVE the cover for Fallen; I would buy it simply based on that!

I can't really think of a favorite book that has a bad cover... I'll have to look at all my books and see!

Vampires don't exist. But if they did exist and one knew that you knew what he was, he would probably smother you in your sleep.

I'm not going to bite your jugular. I could kill you like that.

When I'm browsing a bookstore, it's usually the cover that catches my eye. That or the title, and even if I read the summary and can't decide if I'll like the book, if I like the cover I'll typically buy it.

The cover for Fallen was what caught me int he first place.  I wanted to read it before I ever managed to find a description.

I hate to admit it, but I almost always judge a book by its cover. The cover tends to be what draws the reader in first, but what keeps them interested is the content. Don't get me wrong, I've found a few books that didn't live up to their covers, but then there are those that far surpass theirs. I love the cover of Fallen. I haven't had a chance to read it yet (the curse of being an English major), but the cover is one of the main reasons why I bought the book. One of the only books/series that I can think of right off the top of my head that the covers were lacking would be the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. I think the covers kind of make them look a little too juvenile and calm... I don't know. I just think they could be better.
