Forum Search Tips Close

Basics

  1. Search syntax is similar to Google searches.
  2. Words shorter than 4 characters are ignored.
  3. Searches are NOT case-sensitive.
  4. Automatic 'and' queries: The search will only return pages that include all of your search terms.
  5. Only the body of the post is searched by default. Use the Advanced search to also search by subject.
  6. Word variation/stemming is currently not supported. For example, if you search for acting or acted, the search will not return results for act.

Phrase Searches

Sometimes you'll only want results that include an exact phrase. In this case, simply put quotation marks around your search terms. E.g. "cool video games"

Negative Terms

If your search term has more than one meaning (bass, for example, could refer to fishing or music) you can focus your search by putting a minus sign ("-") in front of words related to the meaning you want to avoid. For example, here's how you'd find pages about bass-heavy lakes, but not bass-heavy music: bass -music

Where are you Twilight Fans??  Edward Cullen is gorgeus of course, and if that's not reason enough to like the Twilight series, then the will of the Cullens to be good: to not hunt humans, is a really good reason.  Carlisle is such an amazing person.  His desire to help humans by being an incredible doctor, is awesome.  The Cullens fight their very nature for humans.  And that is why I really really like the Twilight series.  Of course Bella and Edward are really cute and sweet and all that, and its a really great story.  The writing is super descriptive and makes you want more and more!  I thought that the first half of Breaking Dawn was tooooo much.  I mean, seriously, The Vamp freak baby RIPPED its way out of Bella's TUMMY, and Jacob IMPRINTED with the VAMP CROSSBREED BABY.  WHAT IS WITH THAT!!!????  THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE.  Personally I thought Jacob and Leah were perfect for each other.  They both suffered from heartbreak, and could have helped each other get through it.

However, it was super cool when Bella turned into a vamp and beat Emmett at arm wrestling.  That was hilarious!  The happy ending was okay, I think time makes it more satisfying.  It's kind of sad that Renesmee grows up so fast; Bella will only get a few years of motherhood.  Better that than none, I guess.  So far it remains my favorite series.

A DEFINITE RUNNER-UP: HOUSE OF NIGHT SERIES.  Wow.  HOT.  The story is fast-paced, exciting, with all the elements of real life.  Boy trouble.  School.  Catty girls.  Awesome friends.  I LOVE the Twins.  They are hilarious.  "So * fiiiine." LOL.  Aphrodite was horrible at first, but turns out to be really cool and funny in my opinion.  And Stark's definetly the coolest of the boys.  I like Heath though.  He's cute.  Erik Night is perfect.  Too perfect.  Bleck.  Until the last book, there are some signs of really controllingness.  What is up with that?  He's a really nice guy, and that was so out of character.

So what do YOU think about Twilight and House of Night?  Do you know of any Vamp series that I should add to my "READ" list??  I love the modern day vamp stuff.  Nothing scarey.  Just supercool, hot, and exciting!

Twilight was great. It's gone downhill for me.
I loved Marked out of the HON books. I'm not a fan of the series at all.

    As for Vampire books
    You should try out....
    Vamps - Nancy A Collins
Vampire Academy - Richelle Mead. You'd love this series, it's my favourite.
Morganville Vampires - Rachel Caine. Another great series.

    Those are only a few.

You know what drives me insane about the vampire books?!  Everyone is reading them!  Everyone is reading them because it is "cool" and the people who were diehard fans to begin with look like total idiots and like they're following the crowd.  It drives me insane.  If you were a vampire fan from the beginning then bravo, if you weren't its great that you're expanding your boundaries, but read them for real and not to just keep up with everyone else and be cool.

It's more modern than freaky scary.  Sookie has a couple of vampires as love interests, but she manages to get really beaten up in almost every book (my pet peeve about the series).  I would also avoid the tv series until you've read the books first.

Okay so I read Twilight when it first came out and nobody new about it yet and loved it. Ever since then it is kinda being ruined for me by all these people who read it because people tell them to or the people who are all out dirhard fans, when they just want to be cool.

HON I agree is also really amazing and can't wait to read the next books.

I think you should read Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine. It is AMAZING I can't wait for the next book to come out. By reading the kind of things you liked in Twilight and HOn and think you will love it.

Then you should read the Vampire Diares by L.J. Smith you may know it from the show on the CW. The books are really good. The tv show is good, but nothing like the books.

I also really like Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. It is a different kind of twist on the vampire stories kind of like HON but not. I know thats not real discriptive but you will just ave to read it.

Other stories that have vampires in them, but are not about them that I think you would like are City of Bones by Cassandra Clare and I can't think of the others at the moment but will tell you later if I remember them

    HAPPY READING!!!!

As for Twilight it was the first vamp book i read and at the time i thought there was nothing better. Sorry but if you think that you are so wrong! Here are some way better books:

Night World: It along with the vampire diaries are way better because they were made by l.j smith in the '90s. Read them and you see stephenie meyer is a total copycat.

Sookie Stackhouse: Another reason Meyer is a copycat. Sookie is a waitress who is telepathic, she falls for Bill A vamp., who since is a vamp she can't read his mind. These are by charlaine harris and they are really good. I can't get enough they are action-packed, funny, and for a vamp book realistic.

Blue bloods: I love the way Melissa de la cruz combines history with the mythos of these vamps that come back lifetime to lifetime bringing new meaning to immortal.

OMG, yes I read the whole vampire academy series just recently and I HEART IT!!!!!!!!  I can't believe Demetri didn't die!!!  That makes me so mad.  Blood Promise was amazing, the best book of the series in my opinion.  I love Adrian, he is my fave, but I think she will find a way to "cure" Demetri.  Ok, i will definetly read morganville vampires because now I have two comments here that it is really good.

Yes you  deffinitly have to read the morganville vampires series! Also there is another series someone brought up that is fantastic Blue Bloods by: melissa De la cruz. Oh and I just read this series that has nothing to do with vampires but with the Salem Witch Trials and there ancestors teens you can relate to that are witches. This series is amazing. I'm afraid I am not giving it enough justice at the moment just read it its great!

I loved Twilight even though I really don't consider myself a romantic at all!  I was attracted to it because of the vampire-ishness of it!  Man though, it really got under my skin and I was hooked!   My favorite vampire read though is the graphic novel series 30 Days of Night.  Those vamps are not very Cullen-like, but they will get your attention!

I have definitely read Vampire Knight!!! I have also watched the anime online! Its in Japanese with English subtitles but it was still good. They are supposed to be making an english version too that should come out soon! I love Kaname and Zero too, I still can't decide witch one I love best!

Oh sorry, I don't know what I was thinking I meant to write the title in, but i must have forgot. Those books I was talking about talk about the salem witch trials, but are actually titled The Secret Circle by: L.J. Smith. So sorry for the confusion. They are great books though.:)

Smith write Nightworld?  I haven't read Night World, but its my next vampire series.  I'm a little ashamed to admit that I'm not tired yet of vampire books because they seem so normal it's scary.  Yes, I keep going from Kaname to Zero and back again.  I've only seen some of the anime, but it was really cool.

I am a fan of vampires, but more stuff like Dracula and the Van Helsing movies. But I will say that the Cullens do rock! But other than that, not really a big Twilight fan. I know that may put some of the Twi-hards into shock-that there are those who don't like it that much LOL.

First vampire book I read was Dracula, and I liked it, but to tell the truth I'm more of a dragon girl than a werewolf/vampire. Though I do love shape-shifters and blood-thirsty werewolves.

I read Twilight and loved it, then I gave it to my mom who loved it way more than I did. To tell the truth, I think the movie killed it for me. Like stabbed it, buried, unburied, threw it off a cliff, and drowned it killed it for me. I couldn't look at it the same way again. I read it more for laughs and lack of other things than for Edward. And personally, I don't like Edward. Jasper FTW. And Emmett. And Carlisle. And Charlie. And pretty much every other guy in the book but Edward and Jacob. Even the Volturi are awesomer in my book.

I've never read House of Night, but I've actually really wanted to. What's the first book?

I know!!!!! I started reading the books because my friend told me they were really good. I thought Marked was good but after that they just got dumb! The plots were pretty good if they sticked to them instead of veering off into all the Zoey and Heath/Stark/Eric/kalona drama. I mean really? 4 guys in love with her? It seems like all of the books are just waiting...waiting...waiting...waiting...suspense...something unexpected...the end. Then there's a new book that's exactly the same waiting, waiting and more waiting.
