Topic : re-read?

Forum Search Tips Close

Basics

  1. Search syntax is similar to Google searches.
  2. Words shorter than 4 characters are ignored.
  3. Searches are NOT case-sensitive.
  4. Automatic 'and' queries: The search will only return pages that include all of your search terms.
  5. Only the body of the post is searched by default. Use the Advanced search to also search by subject.
  6. Word variation/stemming is currently not supported. For example, if you search for acting or acted, the search will not return results for act.

Phrase Searches

Sometimes you'll only want results that include an exact phrase. In this case, simply put quotation marks around your search terms. E.g. "cool video games"

Negative Terms

If your search term has more than one meaning (bass, for example, could refer to fishing or music) you can focus your search by putting a minus sign ("-") in front of words related to the meaning you want to avoid. For example, here's how you'd find pages about bass-heavy lakes, but not bass-heavy music: bass -music

Do you find yourself re-reading the same books over and over again because they're so good? I don't have a lot of time to read but I make a huge effort to read as much as possible but I always find myself wanting to read the same amazing books over and over again, even though I know what's going to happen and could practically recite it word by word in my sleep. I always do force myself to get new books though, but I always go back to reading the old ones. Do you guys ever find yourself reading the same book? and never getting sick of it?

Not regularly. I have read the Twilight saga twice, and they didn't get old, but I hadn't read them for a month or two when I re-read them. Really I've never felt any reason to re-read anything. I like to discover new things, I guess.

What books do you like to re-read? Maybe I should read them. Tongue out

As my sister says, "First time around, read everything. If it's a good book, then read it a second time, but just the dialogue. Then if you want to go back for the third time, just read your favorite parts."

And that's worked every time. :)

Yeah, alot. But not really right off the bat. I read it the first time, then read something else and then if I really want to I'll come back. I've read To Catch A Pirate by Jade Parker at least 12 times ((its a pretty light read though)) and I've read Betsy and the Emperor 5 times, and Seven Tears into the Sea by Terri Farley like 3 times. I just basically re-read certain books like the ones mentioned and a few of the Gail Carson Levine books. But not without having some space between each time I read them.

I reread books that I thought were really good, mostly because I can't afford to keep getting new books and I don't like getting them from the library because I get obsessive about owning books.  There was only one book that I really liked that I refused to reread, and that was The Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott.  It scared the * out of me.

Absolutely.  I reread books all the time.  Sometimes I'll reread the whole book.  Other times I search for favorite parts or scenes with specific characters.  I'll even randomly open a book I've already read and just start reading from there until I've satisfied the craving (often to the last page...).  There are some books I've read so man times that I've lost count.  One of them I was able to recite cover to cover, and it was no short read.  That only lasted about a month though; then I started forgetting bits.  There is still one or two scenes that I have down though, and I haven't read any of it in 2 years.

I have re-read so many books!  I think one book I read around 8 times.  Not always the whole thing and it was pretty far a part but some books are just so amazing! :)

Reread ALL the time. Most of the books in my house I've read at least five times, especially in my favorite series, like Artemis Fowl, Harry Potter, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I know I've reread all the HP books at least seven times each, the fifth one seventeen(no joke, I kept count) and Eragon so many times the cover and title page fell off. xD

I actually do re-read books. I mean I love new books but the ones I've already read are really good to. That's why I read them. And if you don't have enough money to buy books, it's a good way to pass time. Cool

I always always always reread books!! Everytime I reread something I get another aspect of the book! For example, I had to reread Pride and Prejudice 4 times before I finally figured out what was going on! I usually get my books at a used book store, and I usually get the classics, so they don't grow old quick and as a bonus, they cost maybe 50 cents for a good book! And when I'm done with them (which has happened never!) I can resell them back! :)

I agree. My English teacher last year, actually said something close to that, about getting a new aspect.

Sometimes, I'll just like automatically skip like a page or a few paragraphs, and later in the book it'll reference to that I'll be like What?

Then I reread the book, and when I reach that part, I'm like "Oh, so that's what they meant."

I can also find layers and such. The first time I read a book, I read it just to enjoy it. After that, if it's not for lack of new books(usually gone within a day or two, as I usually only get 1-3 new books at a time, and only like once every few months, sometimes not at all), it's either because I can fool my teachers into thinking I haven't read it before(*cough*Sea of Monsters--not that it worked all that well, thanks to a confused classmate) or to get some new depth.

I very rarely re-read anything, but I have found some books that I've read about three times. The Mortal Instruments Trilogy and The Boy Next Store, an Apple Book. That's it, though hopefully I will find more that are good enough for my to reread.
