Topic : Love That Book Cover!

Forum Search Tips Close

Basics

  1. Search syntax is similar to Google searches.
  2. Words shorter than 4 characters are ignored.
  3. Searches are NOT case-sensitive.
  4. Automatic 'and' queries: The search will only return pages that include all of your search terms.
  5. Only the body of the post is searched by default. Use the Advanced search to also search by subject.
  6. Word variation/stemming is currently not supported. For example, if you search for acting or acted, the search will not return results for act.

Phrase Searches

Sometimes you'll only want results that include an exact phrase. In this case, simply put quotation marks around your search terms. E.g. "cool video games"

Negative Terms

If your search term has more than one meaning (bass, for example, could refer to fishing or music) you can focus your search by putting a minus sign ("-") in front of words related to the meaning you want to avoid. For example, here's how you'd find pages about bass-heavy lakes, but not bass-heavy music: bass -music

Don't you just love the cover for Lauren Kate's Fallen? I know we aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover but this one is just too cool! I have definitely bought a book before because I thought the cover design was awesome.

What do you think of the cover? Have you ever judged a book by its cover? Are there any of your favorite books whose covers are lacking?

I love the cover! I must say that I'm guilty for buying books because of the cover. One of my favorite covers of all time is the cover of Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick and I love the covers in the Study series by Maria V. Snyder as well. My friend has an ARC of Fallen and she's disappointed that it doesn't have the final cover on it because she loves it too.

I judge most books by their covers! Books have to have a certain look and "feel" to them (that makes me sound creepy, but I promise I'm not!). I definitely LOVE the cover for Fallen; I would buy it simply based on that!

I can't really think of a favorite book that has a bad cover... I'll have to look at all my books and see!

Hush, you bird. My baby's a sleepin'. Maybe got a dream worth a keepin'. Woh, you team; just keep a creepin' at a slow clip-clop. Don't you hurry little surrey with the fringe on the top.

When I'm browsing a bookstore, it's usually the cover that catches my eye. That or the title, and even if I read the summary and can't decide if I'll like the book, if I like the cover I'll typically buy it.

The cover for Fallen was what caught me int he first place.  I wanted to read it before I ever managed to find a description.

I hate to admit it, but I almost always judge a book by its cover. The cover tends to be what draws the reader in first, but what keeps them interested is the content. Don't get me wrong, I've found a few books that didn't live up to their covers, but then there are those that far surpass theirs. I love the cover of Fallen. I haven't had a chance to read it yet (the curse of being an English major), but the cover is one of the main reasons why I bought the book. One of the only books/series that I can think of right off the top of my head that the covers were lacking would be the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. I think the covers kind of make them look a little too juvenile and calm... I don't know. I just think they could be better.

I am going to be honest. I LOVE THE COVER!

    <-----Obiviously!!!

I judge all my books by the cover, because my thoughts are if you spend all your time writing a book you want someone to read and judge and love then why not find a cover that yells to people you want attracted to your books!

So far only one I have read I did not like the cover of and it was the summoning buy Kelley Armstrong but she did make up for it in the book and has better cover art on the rest of her books.

Ha, I judge every book by its cover. It's not that I want to... but when I'm at the book store looking at hundreds of works, the ones that physically look interesting are the ones I'll want to read.

I really loved Fallen's cover, though. And they shouldn't redo it. I actually hate when covers are redone, especially new movie covers... I don't know why...

I always judge books by their cover, if I don't like the cover..I'm not gonna get the book. Fallen has a wonderful cover, it definitely caught my eye. The colors (blue/black/gray) are a great contrast :)

I love the cover of Fallen and Torment. I definitely judge a book by it's cover, all the time.
My fave book is the classic Catcher In the Rye. I'm not a big fan of the covers.

I haven't read it yet but I love the cover :) I liked the covers for the Mortal Instruments series and the Host, and Shiver. I bought hush, hush and Incarceron for their covers and they both lived up ot my expectations.

I agree! It's different, but keeps in line with the theme of the series. It's great and two are sure to compliment each other on the shelf!
