May 13, 2009 Stargazer by Claudia Gray
Released on March 24, 2009

Summary from Amazon:

The vampire in me was closer to the surface . . .
Evernight Academy: an exclusive boarding school for the most beautiful, dangerous students of all—vampires. Bianca, born to two vampires, has always been told her destiny is to become one of them.
But Bianca fell in love with Lucas—a vampire hunter sworn to destroy her kind. They were torn apart when his true identity was revealed, forcing him to flee the school.
Although they may be separated, Bianca and Lucas will not give each other up. She will risk anything for the chance to see him again, even if it means coming face-to-face with the vampire hunters of Black Cross—or deceiving the powerful vampires of Evernight. Bianca's secrets will force her to live a life of lies.
Yet Bianca isn't the only one keeping secrets. When Evernight is attacked by an evil force that seems to target her, she discovers the truth she thought she knew is only the beginning. . . .

My review:

Stargazer is lots better than Evernight . The plot, the characters and even the writing style got smoother and definitely flowed better.

I felt that the plot got more intense and there were times when I was holding my breath - waiting to see what would happen. And even though I still think the relationship between Bianca and Lucas is definitely rocky, I loved the intensity of it.

What I enjoyed reading about Stargazer was the story behind Balthazar. His past, his background and his family. I loved how Claudia gave more the readers more in-depth information about him. I also enjoyed reading about Balthazar in general because he's just so sweet and he would do anything for Bianca despite the fact that she doesn't feel the same way as him.

For the plot, I liked how it twisted and turned so there were lots of times when I didn't expect something in particular to happen...but it did. I enjoy surprises...to some degree. :)

The ending was nice. It definitely surprised me so now I really can't wait to read the next book, Hourglass .

The one thing I didn't really like about this series are the covers. It's so...uncreative. Is that a word? I mean, you can barely see the person's face and I prefer covers that are clear and colorful...basically everything the covers for this series isn't.

Overall, if you overlook the covers that really isn't that appealing, the plot iteslf and stuff is pretty good.

My rating:

Plot: 8/10
Theme: 8/10
Characters: 9/10
Cover: 7/10
Recommendation: 8/10
Total: 40/50 = 80%
