this is a very good book by alice hoffman. it was also made it into a movie.its about two girls named hailey and claire that are spending their last summer together(that is the hottest one on record), because one of them is moving away.together they discover a mermaid at the bottom of the murky pool at the capri beach club. the mermaid is named aquamarine, which is the name of the book.she is very beautiful.she has a broken heart because she left her six sisters to search for her love on land.in this book the hailey and claire discover three things. they are life can take an unpredictable course, friendship is forever even if that friend moves away, and magic can be found in the most unexpected places like finding a mermaid at the bottom of a murky pool.this book is also about growing up. the only part i didnt like was that i was sad when she moved away i wished she had stayed. you should all read this book and then watch the movie they are both great.i liked the book better than the movie, but books are always better than the movie.
