The FitzOsbornes in Exile (The Montmaray Journals)

This book kind of reminded me of ''I Capture the Castle'' by Dodie Smith. It was a charming book with a surprisingly quirky and enjoyable narrator. I like how you learn so much history while reading the story-- it's hard to believe Montmaray and the FitzOsbornes aren't real. I found myself cheering on their struggle to overcome poverty and desperately hoping Sophie would realize her potential, silently berating her for always comparing herself to Veronica. A divine book from a talented new author.

SusieBookworm: I really enjoyed the historical details, too. I think one of the most interesting things about Cooper's books is that she makes a fictional country and fictional monarchs fit into actual events.
