Alexandra Monir's Timekeeper Vlog: Day 1!

About Timekeeper:

This sequel to Timeless combines breathtaking romance with a tale of complex magic in a story that will have every reader believing in the transcendent power of love.

When Philip Walker appears as a new student in Michele Windsor's high school class, she is floored. He is the love she thought she lost forever when they said goodbye during her time travels last century. Overjoyed that they can resume the relationship they had a lifetime ago, Michele eagerly approaches him and discovers the unthinkable: he doesn't remember her. In fact, he doesn't seem to remember anything about the Philip Walker of 1910.

Michele then finds her father's journals, which tell stories of his time-traveling past. As she digs deeper, she learns about his entanglement with a mysterious and powerful organization called the Time Society and his dealings with a vengeful Windsor ancestor. Michele soon finds herself at the center of a rift over 120 years in the making, one whose resolution will have life-or-death consequences.

Have you read the Timeless series, Buzzers?

AHHH!!!! Hi Alex!!! I haven't read Timekeeper yet, but I don't care about spoiler :) I have sooo many questions, but I won't ask them all. Um, so, this one isn't specific to the books, but what do you think of your book covers? Are the cover models representative of your characters, in your mind? Also, I *love* the blue and gray color scheme :D

Also, will there be more to this series? (as I said, I haven't read Timekeeper yet, so I don't know if things have wrapped up nicely or something)

Thank you so much for being here! You ROCK :D

    Hi!

How did you get the idea for Timeless and Timekeeper? And how did music influence your writing?

I loved reading Timeless, and Secrets of the Time Society, but I haven't gotten the chance to read Timekeeper yet. :(

Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

    Hello, Alex :)

I'm excited about your book Timekeeper! I wish I could ask you more questions, but I shall choose just one of course. What music inspires your writing? By that I mean what artists or bands. Thanks for the giveaway as well dear. Keep on writing!

    Welcome Alexandra!!! :)

What do you think of Random Buzzers so far? I've been a member for about a year and I love it! :)

So how did you come up with the idea of time travel? I usually don't read time travel books because they're hard to understand, but I loved Timeless! I fell head over heels for Philip. What's not to love about him? He's perfect. I wish guys at my school were like him. :D I was heartbroken when I found out he forgot who Michele was. Poor Michele. :(

I love how you wrote songs for the book. Listening to the songs while reading makes the book come alive so much more!

I hope you love Random Buzzers and come back again! And please please please write more books with Philip!! <3 :)

    Hi Alex!

First off, I'm so excited for Timekeeper. I've been waiting a LONG TIME for this sequel, and I know you won't disappoint.

    So on to my question(s)!

So music was a big part of the first book. Its the one thing that connected Philip and Michelle through space and time. Do you play an instrument? Did you create the song that Philip wrote for her?

    *DYING* to know!

    Hi !

    I haven't read Timekeeper yet, but I'm betting it's awesome~ And the cover's beautiful *A*

I was wondering, what's your process for writing? I know some authors start off with outlines, or by building their characters first. How do you go from an idea to a novel, and, for this series, how did you first start building up the plot and characters in Timeless and Timekeeper?

Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us!

AlexandraMonir: Hi! I wrote a detailed outline for TIMELESS, but I ended up changing so much! So for TIMEKEEPER I just wrote and didn't worry about outlining. For my new book, I'm doing a mix of both- writing the narrative while also doing some brief outlining to keep the plot and pace moving well.

Welcome, and thanks for visiting RB again! I loved Timeless when I first read it and I'm hoping to revisit it soon! :)

The Timeless series has elements of time travel, historical influences, mystery, and a very intricate romance is woven into the plot. During the writing process, did you find any challenges in mixing these elements?

    posted Jan 28, 2013
  • AlexandraMonir image

AlexandraMonir: Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed Timeless. :) Mixing the different plots and setting was definitely a challenge! But because I'm such a history buff and I loved writing the different time periods (and of course, the romance!) I enjoyed the challenge of weaving everything together.

    Hi Alexandra!

Social class is an interesting topic and I was wondering: what inspired you to write about a family like the Windsors?

    posted Jan 29, 2013
  • AlexandraMonir image

AlexandraMonir: I've always been interested in what it must be like to be part of the American aristocracy, or a member of one of those powerful families that you often hear about, like the Rockefellers. That's what inspired me to write about the Windsor family.
