In my opinion, summer doesn’t officially start until those first July 4th Fireworks hit the night sky. There’s just something about watching the flashes of color and hearing our national anthem that brings a feeling of warmth and pride for our country.
The sound of crackling fireworks off in the distant always brings a smile to my face and stirs up nostalgic childhood memories. My family’s traditions of July 4th have always included watching the fireworks display at the beach, sparklers, and good friends.
It’s easy to take for granted how lucky we are to live in America; to be free to express ourselves, make our own choices, and be what we want to be. Whatever your own July 4th traditions are, I think the most important thing is to really take a moment to celebrate our country and reflect on how lucky we are.
What about you? Do you have any special July 4th plans or traditions?

my summer is half way over so i dont like july but i like fireworks
I'm from Canada so our country's special day is today (July first) and we usually have family over because my birthday is July second, and then after supper we usually go down to the beach and watch fireworks as well. I CAN"T WAIT FOR TONIGHT AND TOMORROW!!!!!
Kiskasnow - you still have the other half of summer to go! You have plenty of time left to have fun - enjoy it!
Mikki8880 - hope you and your family had a wonderful time celebrating!
The fireworks are my favorite part of the 4th, too. Sometimes my neighbors get some "safe and sane" fireworks, even though we're not technically supposed to, and those are the coolest. We put up a couple of ladders one year with a board across the top, and they looked so much like the "real" ones. It was wonderful. ::sigh:: Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!
And kiskasnow, don't think about the summer being HALF OVER, think of it as having HALF TO GO!!! It's so much less depressing. Just have fun and rock the socks off the rest of it! =D !!!!!!!
i usually just go to the park with friends/family and see the fireworks and take pictures of them
I use to be scared when i was little but now i love fire works. My family would go to a parade and then we would watch fire works; it was awesome.
We don't have any family traditions about the 4th of July. But I think it's cool your family goes to the beach and watchs the fireworks, BuzzGirl! And Mikki8880, that's pretty awesome. I didn't know you had a holiday on July 1st. It sounds kind of dumb, but I just assumed our whole continent celebrated Independence Day.
That reminds me of a question I was asked, "Does every country have the 4th of July?"
I answered, "No."
And, of course, the questioner asked me, "What? You think they just go from July 3rd to the 5th?"
Anyway, it was pretty funny. :)
My family will all get together and watch the parade and then go to one of our houses (which ever one we decided to go to that year) and have a cook out. We make hot dogs, steak, cheeseburgers, and chicken. After the cook out we will all get into our cars and go to the soccer field in my city and watch the colorful display of fireworks. Watching fireworks always puts a smile on my face. I don't have any idea why. Maybe it's because of all of the unique colors lighting up the sky.
