Greetings and salutations,

I know a little something about online addiction – do you?  I hope so, because I’m looking forward to chatting with you on Random Buzzers about my new book, Very LeFreak, which is about a technology addict who needs serious intervention to deal with her compulsive iPhone and Internet habits.

Very LeFreak evolved out of the very first novel I ever tried writing, completed in 1996 – a time so long ago, people hardly used cell phones.  (WHAT?!?!?!  This dark time ever existed?  Yes, it’s true.)  That first novel was about an online addict who had to go into rehab to deal with her problems.  Over time, I found I could never recapture the voice from that original manuscript, but the premise was just too delicious not to come back to as in the intervening time, the issues of technology addiction became so much more rampant –and fascinating to try to dissect.  From that starting point, Very LeFreak was born.

Young people in particular live online in ways that didn’t exist when I was a teen.  I’m fascinated by how teens today are able to use technology to rapidly communicate and figure out their worlds.  I can’t wait to talk with you about that – and hopefully get some pointers from you!  ;>  Of course, I’d love to talk with you about anything and everything else (and yes, I love the Nick & Norah movie even though it’s a little different from the book – and I would love to talk with you about that, too!).
