With Daniel Kraus visiting to chat about his new book Scowler, we set up an author activity, 11 Hours Til Impact, asking Buzzers what they would do if they were Ry Burke and they knew that their dad had escaped from jail and was heading their way for bloody revenge. We've rounded up our favorite responses below!

11 Hours Til Impact...

I'd send the younger kids off with someone I trusted, who I'd know they'd be safe with but whom Marvin did not know about. I'd stay and settle the affair once and for all. Have you seen JLO's movie "Enough?" I'd probably set up something like that... And have fun doing it. -Rika

I would set a trap for him instead of trying to fight that way I could turn him over to the police. -megantherabid

It would all depend what tools I had with me. If I had nothing better than a kitchen knife I would definitely flee. However, if I had a gun I may stay and fight, or I may run and save the gun for a more of an emergency. -Paigers97

I would prepare for Marvin's arrival, arming myself and taking precautions. Then, I would investigate the meteor. Who knows what secrets it may hold, what wonders? That being said, if the meteor is just a rock from space, I'd seek shelter somewhere on the property. Finally, I would find a way to contact the authorities with my position, telling them that he is on his way. After that, I could only hope they would arrive before him. -jochoa1994

It's the age old fight or flight situation and I would definitely fly. I would run away and go someplace that he would not be able to ever find me. I have never been a good fighter so I would hide. If my father still found me no matter how I tried to run, then I would fight because I wouldn't be able to stand it any more. I would hope he would lose interest before that would happen because it would definately take some effort to find me. -LittleMissEMI

I'd still prepare for a fight, but I wouldn't just wait for the fight. I'd get the things I'd need; weapons, provisions, ect. Then, I'd get everyone else out. If I had a family like Ry, I'd make sure they were safe and stocked, in case he was still walking when I was through with him. Then if I could, I'd fight him myself. Some scores are best settled alone. -kawaiimuffin

I would be the stick in the mud who would grab my family and head for the local police precint. Hopefully a building full of armed men will be able to keep us safe.  -HappyPessimist

I would definitely flee. After getting as far away as possible, I'd try to contact witness protection or something. I wouldn't want to risk my life because of Marvin Burke's need for revenge.  -AllieB

I would definitely flee. I might take a weapon, but I'd be aiming to avoid the fight if possible. -Liviania

I would call in backup so that the police or someone armed would be there to help when he arrived. -writerquirk

What would be cool is if we could get someone else to stay there for a bit, a big guy hopefully, and pretend like we had moved. Then we could come back home later. -blacksnake
