Happy Wednesday Buzzers! You've made it half-way through the week and we think that deserves a little celebration. Also celebrating this week are a few Random House titles that have just won some awards!
Finally we have the awards for the 2012 Best Fiction for Young Adults awarded by the Young Adult Library Services Assocation. The Best Fiction for Young Adults committee each year selects and annotates a list of significant adult and young adult books that meet the criteria of both good quality literature and appealing reading for teens. Of the 113 titles on the list, 14 are Random House titles! Woo! Congrats to the following books:
My Name is Mina by David Almond; A Time of Miracles by Anne-Laure Bondoux; Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement-Moore; The Fitzosbornes in Exile by Michelle Cooper; I Will Save You by Matt de la Pena; You Against Me by Jenny Downham; Something Like Hope by Shawn Goodman; The Iron Thorn by Caitlin Kittredge; Exposed by Kimberly Marcus; The Floating Islands by Rachel Neumeier; The Queen of Water by Laura Resau and Maria Virginia Farinango; Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey; Orchards by Holly Thompson; The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen
The 2012 American Library Association Award Winners have been announced and there were several teen novels from Random House that were crowned winners. The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen received the Schneider Family Book Award! This award recognizes books that embody an artistic expression of the disability experience. Paper Covers Rock by Jenny Hubbard was named a William C. Morris Award finalist! This award honors a debut book published by a first-time author writing for teens and celebrating impressive new voices in young adult literature.
Next up we have Orchards by Holly Thompson. This free-verse novel just won the 2012 Asian/Pacific American Awards for Literature! This award honors and recognizes individual works about Asian/Pacific Americans and their heritage with exceptional literary and artistic merit.
