We're so pumped to have Lauren Kate visit us this week and answer all of our questions! We’re still pretty impatient to see how it all ends with Luce and Daniel in Rapture, but we’re glad that we’ll have Fallen in Love to help ease the wait by tiding us over. (It's finally on sale today!)
If it’s been a while since you last read the series, or if you haven’t had time to reread, or are just new, don’t fret! We’ve put together a very handy recap of some common terms, who’s who, and what’s happened so far so you can dive right in! We have not posted outright spoilers so don’t be afraid!
A Fallen Glossary
Fallen angels: an angel who strived for more power and fell from heaven, the most notable one being Lucifer
Demons: fallen angels who have chosen to align themselves with the side of evil
Outcast: a certain rank of angels – the worst kind. These were angels who stood by Lucifer in the original revolt, but refused to follow him to hell. After being locked out of heaven, they tried to get into hell, only to be cast out and blinded, although their remaining senses are still powerful
Nephilim: hybrid offspring of angels and mortals. While rarely winged, Nephilim are blessed with minor supernatural talents, like mindreading or “mirroring” people
Announcers: or “shadows.” These shadows are controlled by Fallen Angels and serve as sort of messengers from the past, or pockets of time
Elders: a secretive sect who want Luce dead, although it is still unknown as to why and who they are and what they really want.
Who’s Who in Fallen:
Luce: the main character of the series. She finds out that she and Daniel have been in love for many millennia, but are mysteriously cursed to die and be reborn.
Daniel: a fallen angel and Luce’s boyfriend. Only he seems to remember their tumultuous and painful past but won’t reveal much to Luce.
Cam: another fallen angel and Daniel’s brother. While he has an uneasy relationship with Daniel, he agrees to temporarily aid him in finding Luce.
Arrianne: a fallen angel on Daniel’s side. She is helping Daniel track down Luce.
Shelby: a Nephilim and Luce’s roommate. Shelby is skilled at manipulating Announcers and remember little details that clue into Luce’s past.
Miles: a Nephilim one of Luce’s first friends. Miles is gifted with “mirroring” people, and help Luce understand the Announcers better.
Summaries, Trailers, Chapter Samplers
There's something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori. Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price's attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He's the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move. Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce--and goes out of his way to make that very clear--she can't let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret... even if it kills her.
Hell on earth. That’s what it’s like for Luce to be apart from her fallen angel boyfriend, Daniel. It took them an eternity to find one another, but now he has told her he must go away. Just long enough to hunt down the Outcasts—immortals who want to kill Luce. Daniel hides Luce at Shoreline, a school on the rocky California coast with unusually gifted students: Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans.
At Shoreline, Luce learns what the Shadows are, and how she can use them as windows to her previous lives. Yet the more Luce learns, the more she suspects that Daniel hasn’t told her everything. He’s hiding something—something dangerous.
What if Daniel’s version of the past isn’t actually true? What if Luce is really meant to be with someone else?
Luce would die for Daniel. And she has. Over and over again. Throughout time, Luce and Daniel have found each other, only to be painfully torn apart: Luce dead, Daniel left broken and alone. But perhaps it doesn’t need to be that way…
Luce is certain that something—or someone—in a past life can help her in her present one. So she begins the most important journey of this lifetime… going back eternities to witness firsthand her romances with Daniel . . . and finally unlock the key to making their love last.
Cam and the legions of angels and Outcasts are desperate to catch Luce, but none are as frantic as Daniel. He chases Luce through their shared pasts, terrified of what might happen if she rewrites history.
Because their romance for the ages could go up in flames… forever.
The sky is dark with wings. . . .
In RAPTURE, the highly anticipated fourth and final novel in the FALLEN series, Luce and Daniel are together . . . but for how long? Can history be rewritten? Or are some punishments eternal?
