We are very excited to welcome Dizzy in Your Eyes author Pat Mora to Random Buzzers! She will be joining us all week to answer your questions! Haven't posted a question yet for Pat? Head on over to her forum here and give her a shout out. Be sure to check out the activities section as we have created some fun activities in Pat's honor. In the meantime, here is a letter written from Pat to YOU! Enjoy:

Love!  Love!  Love!

Is there a better topic?  Sometimes exciting, sometimes sad, love can make us feel weird or giddy.  I started the poems that became DIZZY IN YOUR EYES: POEMS ABOUT LOVE in 2005.  I had a great time writing a book in the voices of all kinds of teens, poems about all kinds of love.  When I visited schools or colleges, I asked students for advice since I wanted to explore the highs and low-lows of love.

I sent a few of the early poems to my son, and he e-mailed back saying, “Well, you could call the book heart break.”  Yes, love can hurt, huh?

The idea for “Dumped” came to me when I heard a young librarian say, “I was just dumped.”  One of the great pluses of writing is that I notice details, what’s going on around me, and I listen with curiosity, listen hoping for an idea to fold into the project I’m working on.  Writers can be nosey.

I enjoyed imagining a girl with her loveable cross-eyed cat, a boy who makes a fortune cookie to ask a girl out, a guy who decorates a girl’s car hoping she’ll go with him to homecoming, a girl whose dad saw her kissing at the bus stop.

I’m waiting for your questions, and I have many questions about you.  Do you write?  Are you shy?  What makes you happy?  Sad?  Have some big fears?  A secret love?

What color is love, do you think?
